Some dreams take root in childhood and never let go. For Steffanee, Egypt was that dream. As a young girl, she imagined dedicating her life to Egyptology—carefully brushing sand from ancient artifacts, deciphering hieroglyphics, and uncovering secrets buried for millennia. While life took a different path, the dream of standing before the monuments she'd studied in books never faded.
In May 2022, that dream finally became reality.
The Journey Begins
Our Egyptian adventure started at the airport, excitement building as we boarded our Emirates flight.
After a brief connection, we were on our EgyptAir flight, the anticipation growing with every mile closer to this ancient land. For me, this was an exciting adventure. For Steffanee, it was a pilgrimage decades in the making.
Cairo: Where Ancient Meets Modern
Our first stop was Cairo, a city that pulses with energy and history. The contrast between the modern metropolis and ancient monuments is striking.
The Pyramids of Giza
Nothing can truly prepare you for the moment you first see the pyramids. These 4,500-year-old monuments defy comprehension. Steffanee had seen them in countless books, documentaries, and dreams—but standing before them was something else entirely.
One of the highlights was dinner with the pyramids as our backdrop—an unforgettable experience.
Where We Stayed: Guardian Guest House
We stayed at the Guardian Guest House in Giza, and we couldn't recommend it more highly. Waking up to a direct view of the pyramids from our window was surreal—every morning felt like stepping into a dream.
Cruising the Nile
A Nile cruise is an essential Egyptian experience. Watching the landscape drift by from the deck, you understand why this river has been the lifeblood of Egypt for thousands of years.
Temples and Tombs
The temples along the Nile are breathtaking. The scale, the intricate carvings, the hieroglyphics that have survived millennia—every temple tells a story. For Steffanee, these were the places she'd spent years reading about, the sites she once imagined excavating herself. Walking through them wasn't just sightseeing; it was deeply personal.
Valley of the Kings
Descending into the tombs of the pharaohs is an otherworldly experience. The vibrant colors that have survived for thousands of years leave you speechless.

In Luxor, we stayed at Villa Amira—a beautiful retreat that served as our base for exploring the Valley of the Kings and the stunning temples along this stretch of the Nile.

Egypt exceeded every expectation. From the grandeur of the pyramids to the quiet moments sipping coffee at our villa, this trip was a journey through time itself. The warmth of the Egyptian people, the incredible food, and of course, the monuments that have stood for millennia—it all combined into an unforgettable adventure.
For Steffanee, this was more than a vacation. It was the fulfillment of a lifelong dream, a chance to finally walk the ground she'd imagined excavating as a child. She may not have become an Egyptologist, but in those two weeks, she got to live that dream in her own way.
